MOPI
Abstract
Multiview Orthographic Projection Image (MOPI) of a head isosurface reconstruction from an MRI of an individual of the OASIS dataset. A MOPI consists of a 2D representation of a 3D object from orthogonal projections. The six possible projections are shown randomly combined in the background of the image. In the center, the primary views – top, front, and side – are overlaid, each encoded within an RGB channel. This artwork not only serves as a visual marvel but also reflects the potential of MOPIs for automatic AI-assisted detection of the orientation of heads reconstructed from MRI. From MOPIs we can obtain a unique representation of the orientation of a 3D head, allowing us to address the challenge of 3D orientation as a multi-class 2D image classification problem.
