IA: (I)nsightful (A)spirations Towards Merging Human Knowledge with (A)rtificial (I)ntelligence in Cardiology
Abstract
The image illustrates the fusion between humans and artificial intelligence (AI) that is taking place nowadays. The hand of a black female data scientist is on the right while a robotic hand is on the left, and both are working hand-in-hand for better care of a major body organ – the heart. The heart is split into two halves based on two fundamental perspectives: one represents what the scientist envisions through doppler echocardiography, and the other is what AI produces through artificial neural networks. The scientist identifies the changes directly from viewing the heart image while AI uses internal nodes to extract deeper features indicative of such changes. For that, the scientist uses her already learnt knowledge (right background) whereas AI is trained using codes to develop knowledge (left background). This integration has been causing a revolution in advanced healthcare throughout the years; achieving insightful aspirations of scientists, doctors, and engineers.
