Abstract

3D imaging provides new insights into the organization of cells and tissues of living organisms. In this respect, this session will review recent developments in measurements of structural parameters by 3D image analysis and stereology (including contemporary stereological methods based on evaluation of 3D image data) using fluorescence microscopic data. This topic is still important nowadays taking into account recent expansion of new optical microscopy techniques providing 3D image data, such as STED, PALM, STORM, SPIM, OPT, etc.
